Kung Fu for Kids – Teach Them More Than to Fight
To improve health, get fit, and make new friends, Kung Fu for kids
is a great option for parents who want to ensure that their child learns new skills – but at the Head Academy, martial arts classes
are so much more than punching and kicking.
Thanks to Sifu Nathan Head, here at Head Academy we have created a unique and holistic approach to ancient Chinese wisdom, making it relevant to modern life for all our students. We cater for every age group – from our youngest at age 3+ right up to adults; there is no ‘maximum age’ where the power of movement in combination with mindfulness is no longer useful. At Head Academy, we are a Kung Fu school
that categorises our classes, workshops, and retreats into four distinct areas: martial arts, meditation, movement, and healing modalities. There is truly something for everyone, and we want to help you find balance for the whole family.
Our Kung Fu training for kids
is available across all five of our schools in the Sydney area, and your child will learn so much more than ‘just’ Kung Fu when they train with us.
Kung Fu Classes for Kids of All Ages
Our Kung Fu kids classes
are segregated by age group, ensuring that the martial arts curriculum is modified in an age-appropriate way so that our students are adequately challenged and given the right support.
Little Tigers kids Kung Fu classes
are aimed at children aged between 3 and 6. Here we concentrate on basic movement and mobility skills alongside Kung Fu, with techniques, drills, and fun games so that our students can begin to develop some discipline and coordination skills with self-defence drills and structured coaching. The Little Tigers classes are an introduction to our proprietary PROTECT program, developed to help children and teenagers learn about ways to prevent bullying and grow in self-confidence, focus, and agility.
The Juniors children’s Kung Fu classes
for ages 7-11 take that development further, combining self-defence and technique. Our PROTECT program becomes more central, introducing concepts of danger awareness and conflict avoidance. The balanced curriculum has been developed to be appropriate for this age range. In the Juniors classes, you can expect to see growth in confidence and resilience, better focus and discipline, and a real understanding of movement, agility, and coordination.
Our Teens classes are aimed at ages 12-16, taking kids Kung Fu training
and adapting it so that it is more focused on the specific needs and challenges of this age range. We have developed the Teens curriculum to ensure that it is challenging but achievable, with a real focus on what Kung Fu means. As part of the teaching, the Teens classes will learn empty hand self defence technique, as well as skills in traditional Chinese weaponry. The balance between our Jow Gar Kung Fu in Sydney
and the PROTECT program will ensure that our Teen students have the skills and confidence to demonstrate conflict avoidance and resolution and become part of the anti-bullying solution.
